WELCOME

This website is an online portfolio for creative research, as well as for information relating to my extended professional activities. It is my intention that this interface will elucidate and contextualize key elements and contributions of my career to date — highlighting my engagement at local, national, and international plateaux — as well as my commitment to excellence in Teaching and Service at the University of Regina, and to the extended communities I serve.

News

November 2025 >>

  • I finally got my student comments back, from the Kyoto trip/course evaluations in May! To say that they choked me up, a little, would be an understatement. Check them out near the bottom of the ART290JP Course page, by clicking HERE.

October 2025 >>

  • I was on a bit of a victory lap, up and down the 401, at the end of October, 2025. I visited graduate and undergraduate Printmaking classes, and gave talks at McMaster University, University of Waterloo, Queen's University, The Union Gallery (Kingston), Sheridan College x U of T, and Concordia University.

  • I was a presenter, organizer, and jazzed up participant for FLATGRAFIKA III, in Saskatoon October 18 & 19, 2025.

One other note >> I wasn't expecting to re-do my website from scratch, but my previous web-hosting company decided to double their prices, and I managed to catch this little tidbit before they auto-charged my credit card for the year! As such, there are plenty of things on this page that simply are not ready, so please be patient. If there is something you really want to see or know, send me an EMAIL!

ABOUT ME

I am a visual artist, originally from Hamilton, Ontario. I have a BFA from Queen's University, and an MFA from Concordia University. I have exhibited and lectured internationally, winning awards and recognition as an important artist working in contemporary Printmaking media. I have printed editions for several well-known Canadian artists including Betty Goodwin and Ed Pien at Stinger Editions (Concordia University), as well as Zachari Logan and Alison Norlen, through版画島Hangashima Press, which I founded in 2019. I have taught Printmaking, digital imaging and contemporary theory at Queen’s, Concordia and the Haliburton School of the Arts. In 2018, I was Visiting Professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design, and Kyoto Seika University, in Kyoto, Japan. I am currently Professor and Head of the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina.

TEACHING

Teaching is an important part of my life, as an artist, and as a person. I am grateful to have taught in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina, in Saskatchewan, Canada, for most of my career. Being a single-faculty-member studio area is challenging at times, but it has afforded me the opportunity to teach what I want, and how, which ultimately benefits my students (and me!)

SERVICE

As with most aspects of my professional (and personal) life, things tend to get a little tangled up. University, academic and artisitic, and community service is no exception.

Oh! Do you want to go to Kyoto?

You might have heard that I take students to Kyoto every couple of years...

My website is under construction, as of mid-October 2025. I hadn't planned on a whole new website, but my previous provider had been quietly increasing my annual rates, and simply letting me know after my on-file credit card was charged for the year. Then they tried to DOUBLE it! Not this time! As such, my projects/creative research content is going to take some time to migrate. In the meantime, TRUSZKOWSKISHORSE is the placeholder.
